Mary Sidney Hewett was the oldest child of Robert Carson Hewett and Joanna Sidney Anderson. She married the CSA Col William Fessenden Beasley. In the beginning the young couple lived with her parents - later they moved to Baltimore. They had six children. The children were Sidney Hewett Beasley (Littlejohn) who moved to Toronto, Hewett Anderson Beasley, Mary Alexander Beasley (Smith), William Davidson Beasley who died as an infant and is buried in Kentcky, William Fessenden Beasley, Jr who married the sister of his brother-in-law Layton Fontaine Smith, and Edward Bailey Beasley.
