Donald L. Sears, 77, of Princeville died Monday, Dec. 15, 1997, at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria. Born Nov. 17, 1920, in Brimfield to Charles W. and Clara A. Hill Sears, he married Pauline Fulton on June 16, 1951, in Sibley. She died Feb. 3, 1973, in Peoria. He later married Jane A. Whitlock on Sept. 1, 1973, in Columbus. She survives. Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Lyle (Evelyn) Miller of Peoria and Mrs. Ralph (Berniece) Heinz of Belleville; three nieces; and one nephew.

A self-employed house painter in the Princeville area, he retired in 1990. A World War II Army veteran, he served in the 495th Armored Artillery, 12th Armored Division, attaining the rank of corporal. He was a 52-year member of Princeville American Legion Post 248 and Stark County Voiture 768, 40et8. He was a charter member of the Princeville Lions Club. He was a member of Princeville Lodge 360, AF&AM, and the Wyoming Chapter 8 Order of Eastern Star.

He was a 61-year member of Princeville United Methodist Church, where services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday. The Rev. David Allin will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight at Hammitt-Hott Funeral Home, with Masonic services at 8 p.m.

Visitation also will be 30 minutes before services at the church. Burial will be in Princeville Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Akron/Princeville Ambulance Fund or the Lions Foundation of Illinois.
