Samuel L. Emerick was a veteran of the Civil War: (Private, Company I, 11th Regiment Kansas Volunteer Cavalry) having enlisted along with two of his brothers. Samuel was born in Portland Mills, Putnam Co., IN, the fourth of eleven children.
His wife was Catherine L. Clark, daughter of Richard Clark and Mary Eva Myers. She was born in Parke County, IN, and they were married March 11, 1858 in Fountain, IN.
They had seven children, the youngest of whom was Della Emerick, also buried in Prague. Their sons, Oliver and Grant, are also buried there, I believe, and grandson
Clarence, and possible Earl.
