Jeffries (Jeff) Nathaniel Dubberley was born May 12, 1896 in rural Macon County, Alabama. He was the son of John Allen Dubberley and LaDelia (L. D. or Dee) Dubberley (Bufford). He was named after both his maternal grandfather, James Jeffries Bufford, and his fraternal grandfather, Sacker Nathaniel Dubberley. Both the Dubberley and the Bufford families were early settlers in Macon County.

Jeff married Myrtle Lassiter, daughter of Frank G. Lassiter and Annie Merle Lassiter (nee Brady). Jeff and Mrytle settled on a farm in rural Macon County, Alabama where they reared their one son, Frank Allen Dubberley, now deceased.

Jeff graduated with a degree in pharmacy from Alabama Polytechnic Institute (present day Auburn University). He was a pharmacist in Notasulga, Alabama and later Tuskegee, Alabama.

Jeff died in Montgomery, Montgomery County, Alabama on December 18, 1970 and is buried in Armstrong Methodist Church Cemetery, Macon County, Alabama as is his wife, Myrtle, and son, Frank.
