This keen courageous woman came to America from England in July of 1849 with her husband and five small sons (Edward, Thomas, William, Robert & John) giving birth to a small son, Hasell, on board the ship en route. During there two years residence in Utica, New York, a daughter, Mary joined the family and after they reached Illinois a seventh son Frank was born. As fine a family as could be found anywhere - seven sons & one daughter.

She was always alert, industrious, capable, very refined, with high standards of morality for her splendid sons & daughter. She was fearless and resourceful as many intimate stories of her signify. She surely did her duty and made a wonderful contribution to the new community in America.
