Married to Jeremy Rogers . Mother of eight James, John, Margaret, Charlotte, Bessie, Herbert, Myrtle and Hazel . Is reported to have died about the time of her daughter Hazel's birth in Aug.1895. Location unknown.
Sister of Charles , David & Sarah Jane .
A cousin of my mother talked of being a little girl & visiting the unmarked grave of someone that Aunt Jo loved dearly. She remembered it being in the "back" by a fence. In speaking with the elderly former sextant he indicated that there never has been a fence in the back of the cemetery-(north side.) After visiting this grave Tootie & Aunt Jo would go visit Mag Bagley-a beloved lady who was Jo's cousin & Alta's daughter. In putting together the pieces of this story, it is believed that five year old Tootie walked across the cemetery from her grandma's grave (Sarah Dennis Thompson) to her grandma's sister's grave, Altaiett Dennis/Vanderhoof Rogers. Alta was Josephine's aunt.
I know that as a child, we would go visit my great grandmother's grave, Sarah for Memorial Weekend. In all those years we never went to the other side of the cemetery. I really doubt that my Grandma knew anything about her aunt being buried in an unmarked grave near the fence. Her sister Jo was a lot older than she was so I'd guess that this information wasn't passed along to her.
