May was born at Highland Park Farm at Kopp, Virginia on 16 Dec 1900. At the age of 17, she married Charles Bussie Linton, Sr. at Belle Haven Missionary Baptist Church in Kopp, Virginia. According to the article in the Manassas Journal on 4 October, 1918, it was a very quiet yet pretty wedding. The bride was given away at the altar by her father, James Luck, Jr. Ruth Luck and Ruth Linton, sisters of the bride and groom, were bridesmaids, while Walter Woolfenden, an uncle of the bride, was best man. Rev. Barnett Grimsley performed the ceremony. The bride was gownd in a charming white crepe de chine dress, wearing a long wedding veil daintily draped around the face.

May died, after an illness of four days, at age 20. Dr. W. Fewell Merchant of Manassas, stated that the cause of death was measles. May was buried at Belle Haven Missionary Baptist Church, Kopp, Virginia. Her remains were moved to National Memorial Park, Falls Church, VA in December of 1942 during "The Taking" [the expansion of the Marine Corps base at Quantico, Virginia after the bombing of Pearl Harbor, HI on December 7, 1941.].
