William Elmer Brock was the son of Benjamin Brady Brock and Anna Laura Orrick. He was the grandson of Ransom Samuel Brock and Sarah Sarah Ann Newham. This was a Pioneer family that came from Missouri to Stephen County, Texas. Life in the new territory wasn't easy and up until the mid 1870's the settlers had to contend with vicious raids by the Comanche Indians.

William Elmer Brock was named after his Father's brother William Elmer Brock who was born in Wakenda, Carroll, Missouri. William, married Lillie Marie Tomlinson.
