Funeral services were Friday, Sept. 19, at the Hall-Taylor Funeral Home, 1185 W. Main St., Shelbyville, with the Rev. Marshall Phillips officiating. Burial was in the Bagdad Cemetery, Bagdad, Ky.
Mr. Ashby was born Nov. 27, 1926, in Waddy, Ky., to the late William Len Ashby and Zula Johnson Ashby Burnett.
He was a dairy and tobacco farmer, painter and former employee of Growers Tobacco Warehouse. He was an active member, deacon, trustee and former moderator of the Buffalo Lick Baptist Church. He also served as treasurer of the fifth Sunday service.
He was a 53-year perfect attendance member and past president of the Bagdad Ruritan Club. He also was a member of the Nomination and Credential Committee of the Shelby Rural Electric Cooperative. He enjoyed golf.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Edington Ashby, Shelbyville; a son, Wayne (Pam) Ashby, Shelbyville; two daughters, Sandra Twyford (Jon) McCain and Myra (Doug) Phillips, both of Shelbyville; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Gene and Kenneth Ashby.
