Mrs. M. E. Asbury died at her home, 204 North Brevard street, yesterday afternoon at 3:05 o'clock after a period of invalidism that lasted for several years. She was 64 years of age and is survived by four sons, namely Messrs. J. J. Asbury of Birmingham, Ala., Otis Asbury of Richmond, Va., and O. F. and E. T. Asbury. Mrs. Asbury was a daughter of the late Thomas Harrison and Mary Esther Farrow, having been born in the county, April 29, 1861. She had lived in Charlotte practically all of her life and was exceedingly well known here. With her when the end came were her four sons and her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Harry Asbury who makes her home with her. The deceased was a loyal and devout member of the Tryon Street Methodist Church and was very active in her Church work until her health forced her to relinquish her duties.
The funeral will take place this afternoon at 3 o'clock at the residence, the service being in charge of Rev. Dr. E. K. McLarty, assistd by Rev. T. F. Marr. Interment will be at Elmwood. The pallbearers will be Messrs. C. W. Tillett, D. H. Anderson, J. H. Ross, M. F. Kirby, F. D. Alexander, Jasper Miller and Charles R. Cheshire.
