Thomas Ervin Smith

Thomas Ervin Smith was the son of William Esau (Eason) Smith and Dyemie (Diana) Smith nee Hudson

Thomas 'Ervin' Smith married Elizabeth 'Jane' Roberts. Jane preceded Ervin in death. Elizabeth 'Jane' Smith is buried in Hickory Grove Cemetery/Oklahoma. Ten children were born to this union, five of whom were living at the time of Ervin's death. These included: Adelia, William Eason, Thomas Redmond, Theodoshia Jane, and Otis Franklin.

Ervin was also survived by his second wife Margaret Pruitt, Brother, Marion Smith, and a host of grandchildren, nephews, nieces, and other relatives, and friends. He united with the Baptist Church at the age of 17 in the town of his birth. He later moved his membership to Sparta.

Thomas Ervin was a young flag bearer in the American Civil War 1861-1865. He was a member of the 1st Arkansas Cavalry. Funeral Services were held in Sparta, Missouri with Rev. Albert Hanks and Rev. Worth Caughron officiating. Burial was in the Ozark Cemetery under the direction of Klaper Funeral Home.
