The second of ten children born to Reverend John & Rachel (Wimp) Shacklett, Gager married Susannah Wimp, daughter of John Jr & Elizabeth (Welch/Welsh) Wimp. They married twice:
1) 8 Sep 1828; they divorced 5 Nov 1841.
3) 14 Jan 1851, remarried.

Gager and Susannah both died of Cholera on the day of his 47th birthday, just months after remarrying. Their 19 yr old son John died three days later, also from Cholera.

Children with Susannah:
1) Elizabeth G Shacklett (1829-1888), m: Reverend John David Richardson.
2) John W Shacklett (1832-1851), never married.
3) James A Shacklett (b: 1838), m: Eleanor Warfield.

During the 1850 Census in Meade Co KY, Gager and Susannah are separated; she lives with her parents and their children live with their father Gager.

Gager is my son's 4th paternal Gr-Grandfather.

Gravesite Details

Cemetery reading of 1930 states this is Ben Gager Shacklett. This same reading has wife Susanna listed just before Ben's name as though they were buried next to each other, which is fitting as they each died the same day.
