A biography of their son, Hon. Horace T. Kendall, of Brandenburg, Kentucky, states that his paternal grandfather was born in Virginia and settled in Nelson County, Kentucky. Horace was the youngest of 7 children (other children not named here) of Thompson Kendall and Margaret Shacklett, daughter of John Shacklett, an early settler from Pensylvania.
