James Cooper Braddy, 82, was the son of Seaborn Luton Braddy and Julia Peacock Braddy. He was born November 28, 1887, in Summerville Georgia. He had 3 brothers: Doyle D. Braddy, John S. Braddy, Tillman R. Braddy, and a sister Mary Ida Braddy Gilreath. He grew up in Georgia and later Florida on the Braddy family farm. He lived most of his life in the Tampa Florida area. His first wife Birdie Gavin married him about 1910. They had four children: Mable, Warren "Garfield", Harold and Margaret. Birdie died in 1949 at age 57. He married a second time to Mary Lovie Gavin Ouzts in 1954. She also was a widow. It was a very sad day January 3, 1970, when James was, shot and killed by a robber. His killer was later caught and put in prison were as far as I know he is still incarcerated. I never met James Cooper Braddy personally, but from several sources they all say the same thing. That he was a very kind and loving warm man who really made an impact on his family and friends. The LOVE & GOODNESS that was inside of him passed on to all and still continues on. To be able to do this is to truly be blessed. I believe he would want us to remember and focus on his good and happy times as "Papa", husband, brother and son. Thanks to Cousin John Staten Braddy, descendant of James's brother John Simon Braddy for placing pictures of James & family on the net. It opened up the way for connecting with more family descendants of James, and his extended family. I descend from James's brother Tillman Braddy Sr. 19 years later after James passing, his Great-Great-Grandson James Cooper (J.C.) Braddy was born and carries on his name. I dedicate this memorial to his spirit and my relatives who are connected with James Cooper Braddy.
