Julia Frances Peacock Braddy was born September 23 1855 in Georgia to parents Asa Peacock and Martha Jones Peacock. After Martha's death Sara Suddeth Peacock" was her Step-Mother.
She was the wife of farmer Seaborn Luton Braddy whom she married December 19th 1871, when she was just barely 16 years old, and he was 24. They lived in Georgia and later in the Florida panhandle.
Julia and Seaborn Braddy had 5 living children; Mary Ida Braddy Gilreath, Doyle Dawson Braddy, John Simon Braddy, James Cooper Braddy, and Tillman Ross Braddy Sr. They were married 39 years.
Her husband Seaborn died on September 30 1910,(cause unknown). He was only a few days shy of 63 years old and Julia was had just turned 55 a week prior. Their birthdays were only a week apart. His passing must of haunted her for her remaining birthdays because she'd always remember their "happy birthday week".
A lot of things were changing and happining in Julia's and Seaborn's later years. They had grown up without running water in the house and had to use a well pump. Kds usually went barefoot most of the time because parents couldn't afford the luxury of shoes for such fast growing feet. Folks might only have two sets of clothes; one for work and 1 for Church Sunday which you kept nice! Most families were farmers and all family members worked the farm chores. But now after the turn of the century inventions were changing the world! Fast and faster everything was becoming. The railroad, telegraph, electric lights telephone, radio, automobile, tractor, airplane and motion pictures. Flights accross the Atlantic and large ocean vessels like the Titanic. Things changed by leaps and bounds since she and Seaborn were kids born before slavery, Lincoln had been President and the Civil War. Revolution veterans were around when they were young and many more Civil War vets and how the south around their home in Georgia had been torched and then had to rebuild and adapt. They had endured much togehter both good and bad both in large ways. Much even changed since Seaborn had died. A World War and a pandemic both killing millions and just a few years apart.
She died about 10 years after Seaborn on March 3 1920. I assume preceeding her in death were her parents and brother since they seem to disappear from any records.
Her son Dawson Braddy only 44, and his daughter Bertha Braddy preceeded her in death, which must have been a blow to her and the family.
Most of her family survived her including; her son John Braddy and wife Helen "Ida" Braddy and their children; Howard, and Finavea Braddy.
Also surviving; daughter in-law (Son Doyle Braddy's widow), Mattie Braddy, and their children; Rosa, Seaborn Eulas, Eva Ethel, Annie, Addie Smallwood and husband Edward, and Mack Braddy, his wife Essie Lee Perkins and daughter Lillie Loraine Braddy.
