Mr. Brandau worked for Mechanic & Equipment Co. of Oak Lawn for more than 30 years. He was born the son of Elmer and Elsie Schmiedeknecht Brandau. His wife, the former Lena Eisses, whom he married Sept. 28, 1946, died Oct. 31, 2007. He served in the U.S. Army from 1944-1946 with the 987th Engineer Maintenance Company. He enjoyed working on engines, gardening, jigsaw puzzles, cutting grass and sitting on the porch watching the corn grow.
Surviving are three sons and two daughters-in-law, David Brandau of Wisconsin, Ed and Marge Brandau of Frankfort, Fred and Lisa Brandau of Palos Heights; one daughter and son-in-law, Doris and Robert Clark of Braidwood; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and several cousins.
One daughter-in-law, Sharon Brandau, is deceased.
