CAME FROM A FAMILY OF SOLDIERS
Sebastian S. Peckinpaugh, an old and well known resident of this city, died at his home, 307 Howard street, Saturday after an illness of several weeks. Mr. Peckinpaugh is survived by four children, Robert, Peter, Mrs. E.V. Graves and Mrs. Fannie Atkinson, of Detroit. The funeral will be held this afternoon to Fort Howard cemetery. Rev. Leek will officiate at the services at the house.
Mr. Peckinpaugh came from a military family and had himself a very honorable record as a soldier in the civil war having served from the beginning to the end of that struggle in company E, 3rd Ohio Cavalry. After the war he served in a government engineering corps for several years. His grandfather was a soldier in the Revolutionary war, while his father served with distinction in the war of 1812 and the Seminole war. His brother fought through the Mexican war, and at present a nephew is fighting Fillipinos as a member of the 30th volunteers.
