Troy Hodnett was the son of native Texans William Marvin and Rachel Lee Hawkins Hodnett. Born at Robert Lee, Texas he attended school at nearby Jean, TX with his six siblings. Although not overweight he somehow earned the nickname "Fat Troy".

Much of his life Troy worked in Graham, Texas as a truck driver for Red Ball Freight and operating a movie theater. Then in 1970 he married Myra Lanell Knight in Breckenridge and was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church.

Troy was preceded in death by his wife Lanell, and older brother Harvey as well as both parents. His sisters Loraine, Frances, Dorothy, Janie, and brother, Wayne survive him as well as stepson, Glen Lee and two half sisters, Evelyn and Ruth. Troy was a fun loving man and was loved by many.
