Irene Gale Nicholes returned to her loving Heavenly Father on Friday, September 12, 2008. Irene was born September 5, 1933 in Beaver, Utah to Henry Harold and Arvilla Atkin Gale. Irene received her education in Beaver and then went on to receive her cosmetology and instructors license in Cedar City, Utah, where she was an instructor at Cosmetology College of Southern Utah.

Irene will always be remembered by her family and friends for her love of the outdoors and her beautiful vegetable and flower gardens. She grew the most gorgeous roses of many varieties and colors. She loved fishing and spending time with her family. She will be remembered by her children and grandchildren for the amazing birthday parties she threw and the unique birthday cakes she spent tireless hours on for each of their birthdays. Her grandchildren will remember and be grateful to her for the wonderful, loving teacher she was, spending countless hours at the library, reading books and learning each day a new and exciting adventure on one of their daily walks. She was such a great example for them.

She is preceded in death by her parents Mr. And Mrs. Henry Harold Gale, a brother Edwin (Hod) Gale, and a beautiful niece, Jill Hunter Russell.

She is survived by her loving husband, Rolland (Nick) Nicholes, and her two sons, Keith Rolland Nicholes and Mark Nicholes, all of Cedar City. She has seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren: Jessica Lynn (Brook) Madsen and their children Bentley, Gracie, Jax and Nick; Whitney Irene (Kade) Cox and their child, Keaton; Cassi Nell Nicholes; Keisha Nicholes; Tyler Mark Nicholes; Braiden Wade Nicholes; and Brielle Cherise Nicholes. Irene is survived by a sister-in-law, Marjorie Gale of Cedar City; 7 sisters, Louise (Pat) Lindsay, Beaver; Phyllis (Harry) Brockmeir, St. George; Karen (Paul) Hunter, Cedar City; Sylvia (Russell) Jones, St. George; Sandra (Eddie) Torres, Las Vegas; Lorraine (Dick) Fife, St. George; and her brother, Michael Gale, South Jordan. Irene will be truly missed by all that knew and loved her.

There will be a private family viewing at Southern Utah Mortuary on Wednesday, September 17th, from 11:30 a.m. until, 12:30 p.m., prior to the graveside service, which will be held at 1 p.m. at the Cedar City Cemetery under the direction of Southern Utah Mortuary.
