Lola Louise Gale Lindsay passed away on August 1st, 2014, in Cedar City, Utah. On April 13th, 1930, Louise was born in her Grandparent's home (Heber and Mae Atkin), to Henry Harold and Arvilla Gale of Beaver, Utah. She was the second of nine children. She grew up in a small brick home sitting on 14 acres on the north end of Beaver. As a little girl, Louise roamed the green meadows and played near the stream that ran by her house. Later, her father became the superintendent of a state fish hatchery and Louise spent her teen years living there and walking a mile to school. She was very accomplished in high school. She was the editor of the seminary paper and played the clarinet in the band. Louise played basketball on the girl's team and was elected as an officer at Girls-State. She was a 4H Leader. She was voted, Queen of the Sweetheart's Ball, as a Senior (Patrick was her Date). During her Senior-year, a state contest was held for the best girl in the state. The judging was based on health, beauty and personality. Louise won the county and then was awarded the "Blue Ribbon in the State". She graduated from Beaver High School in 1948.
On July 13, 1948, Louise married Patrick Mathew Lindsay. The couple moved to Cedar City, Utah for Patrick to attend Branch Agricultural College (SUU) and later, Utah State University in Logan, Utah. Louise worked part-time at the Laundry, Milne Truck Lines, and later at the sewing factory in Beaver. She was an accomplished fly tyer and regularly sold many of her flies. Louise and Pat also lived in Kanab and Panguitch, Utah, and eventually made Beaver their home. They were blessed with 4 children, 2 girls and 2 boys. Louise enjoyed her life as a mother and grandmother. Louise was a talented homemaker, seamstress, quilter, gardener (she loved her flower garden). She canned much of her own fruits and vegetables. Louise was a very talented artist and shared her love of oil painting, and fly tying with her children and grandchildren.
Louise was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and loved reading Scriptures. Due to her artistic ability, she was involved in the Church plays, and holiday floats. She taught Sunday School, nursery, and was a Cub Scout leader for many years. Louise enjoyed helping and serving many of the older generation in Beaver. She enjoyed working on the family history. She transcribed many autobiographies and provided her family with genealogical books. Louise worked at the genealogy library in extractions, searching records, and spent hundreds of hours assisting others.
Louise is survived by her children: Helen (David) DeMille, Jennifer (Milo) Palmer, Kriston (the late LaRayne) Lindsay, James (Becky) Lindsay, her siblings: Karen (Paul) Hunter, Phyllis (Harry) Brockmeier, Sylvia (the late Russell) Jones, Sandra (Eddie) Torres, Lorraine (Richard) Fife, Michael Gale, and 13 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
