Was the second daughter and third child of Susan Malinda (Murphy) Brumley and David Monroe Cherry, born in Clarksville, Red River County, Texas. She was sister to Mary Ida Elizabeth (Cherry) Anderson Greathouse, Robert Calvin Cherry and John David Monroe Cherry. She married Larkin Wilburn White and they had nine children, five who lived to adulthood: Lena Almira, Rosa Belle, Johnie Floyd, Addie Lou and Bessie Morris. Luther Monroe and an unnamed stillborn baby girl died in infancy. Edna Adell and Betty Lenora died in early childhood.
