"Helga J. Hale, 88, Ellen's Convalescent Health Center, died Tuesday at the center. Services will be 10 a.m. Friday in the Rose room of the Bruce Funeral Home, with Rev. William P. Cunningham, pastor of St. Mark's Episcopal Church, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Fort Dodge. Friends may call after 6 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Survivors include son, Floyd Hale, Fort Dodge; daughter, Mrs. Walter (Verlene) Remington, Fort Dodge; six grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
Helga J. Johnson was born in Fort Dodge. She resided here for a short time before moving with her parents to Pocahontas, where she finished her schooling. She later moved to Coalville, where she met George W. Hale. The couple was married in Fort Dodge in 1922. They soon moved to Fort Dodge and continued to live in the area for a number of years. Mr. Hale died in 1969, and she entered Ellen's Convalescent Health Center in 1982."

According to SSDI, Bruces Funeral Home, and Fort Dodge Memorial Park cemetery records, as well as family records, Helga was born on 30 Nov 1897, contrary to Iowa births index which gives birth date as 13 Nov.
