James Bjore, age 92, of rural Battle Lake, died Thursday, June 19, 2008, at Lake Region Hospital.

Funeral service was held on Monday, June 23, at Trefoldighed Lutheran Church, rural Battle Lake with Rev. Steve Carlson officiating. Burial was at the church cemetery.

He was born July 18, 1915, at rural Wendell, the youngest of nine children to Truls and Gurine (Baasen) Bjore. He was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Wendell and attended Wendell Public School through the eighth grade. He worked at Aamot Implement in Wendell from 1938 to 1952, then went into farming full time.

On July 13, 1941, he married Mildred Fronning at her parent's home in rural Fergus Falls. After their marriage, they lived on a farm by rural Wendell and in 1948, they moved into Wendell. In 1955 James and Mildred moved to Aastad Township and farmed until 1968 when they moved to Clitherall Township and farmed with their son, Marlin. James was actively involved in farming into his 80s and remained interested until his death. In July of 2005, James and Mildred entered the Battle Lake Good Samaritan Center.

Jim was very mechanical and enjoyed repairing machinery, doing field work, working with his cattle, and being outdoors. He also enjoyed listening to old time music, hunting pheasants, ducks and deer. He shot his one and only deer when he was in his 70s.

In 2006 he was the Valentine's King at the Battle Lake Good Samaritan Center and rode in the Wenonga Days Parade. James was honored to be chosen king by his peers and to ride in a parade at the age of 91. James loved life and survived several life threatening illnesses. His family called him "the man with nine lives." He had an unbelievable sense of survival.

He is survived by two daughters, Janice (Reginald) Juven and Vivian Bjore both of Fergus Falls; six grandchildren, Jerry (Sarah) Juven, Scott (Denise) Juven and Dustin (Kathy) Evenson all of Fergus Falls, Tim Juven of Delano, MN, Angela Juven of Fargo, ND and Dena (Kurt) Biederman of Crystal, MN; seven great-grandchildren, Joshua and Matthew Juven, Tabatha, Natasha, Samantha and Broc Evenson, and Eve Biederman; sister, Ruth Moore of Phoenix, AZ; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Bjore of Phoenix, Edna (Elmer) Guderian and Ardis Fronning both of Fergus Falls; brothers-in-law, Morris (Avis) Baasen of Barrett, and Alfred (Mila) Fronning of Fergus Falls.
