Meretta Austin Houlette was born June 21, 1925 in Wolfforth, TX to the late William Anderson Austin and Nellie Partin Austin. The Reverend Ernest Houlette united Meretta in marriage to Ted Houlette on January 16, 1943, in Lubbock. As the wife of a minister, Meretta assisted Ted with many church related activities and ministries. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Viola Walker and Serena Johnston; and eight brothers, Alvie, B.T., C.P., Cecil, George, Russell, Guy and W. A. Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Ted; two daughters, Barbara Peek and husband Robert; and Sheila Houlette and husband Cary Kettner; She was Mur to her only granddaughter, Tristy Nell Peek Fox and husband Russell. Three Great-Grandchildren, Savanna Fox, McKayla Fox and Allyssa Fox; two sisters, Margaret Watts and Emma Powell, and three brothers, Donis Austin, Donal Austin, and Partin Austin. Meretta's funeral and burial took place on Friday September 19, 2008 in El Paso with burial in Rest Lawn Memorial Park. A second service in remembrance of Meretta's eighty-three years of living and loving others will be held on Tuesday, September 23, 2008 in Faith Tabernacle Church in Lubbock, TX. Pastor Dale Bostic will officiate.
