Alfred was the son of John and Mary (Peery) Kuykendall and was born in Sugar Creek twp near Terre Haute, IN. He was engaged for a number of years boating on the Wabash, Ohio and Mississippi rivers. ALfred married Anna Long (daughter of Jacob Long - born in Clark Co, IL Dec. 19, 1822)on November 07, 1843 in Clark County, IL. Her marker was not located in this cemetery though she died about 1908 per her son. The familycame to Richland Co, WI in 1853 and Alfred worked as a farmer. They had 4 children; John K. (Jennie Phoeba Kettle), Mary C. (David Henry), Jacob (Eleanor Reed)and Nancy (Milo Beckwith).
