Born in Masamagrell, Valencia, Spain, the Servant of God, Msgr. Luis Amigó y Ferrer, joined the Franciscan Capuchin Friars in 1874 in their convent of Bayonne, France, and was ordained to the priesthood in his native Spain on March 29, 1879.
Founding the Hermanas Terciarias Capuchinas de la Sagrada Familia on May 11, 1885 at the Sanctuary of Nuestra Señora de Montiel in Benaguacil, and four years later, a male religious congregation known as the "Amigonianos", aged 52 he was named Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese of Solsona following Msgr. Juan Bautista Benlloch y Vivó transfer from the named See to the Diocese of Urgell. Elected Bishop of the Titular See of Thagaste, he received his episcopal consecration on June 9, 1907 from Cardinal Aristide Rinaldini, assisted by Archbishop José Maria Salvador y Barrera and the named Msgr. Benlloch y Vivó.
Msgr. Amigó kept his office until July 18, 1913, when he was named as Bishop of the Diocese of Segorbe, following the demise of Bishop Antonio María Massanet y Verd, at the early age of 46. Passing away in office on October 1, 1934, aged 80, the cause for his beatification is in process.
