Storts, Earl Lester age 84, of Brooklyn Center, Minnesota died April 19 of complications from a cerebral hemorrhage. He is survived by his wife, Bertha; and their four children, 2 living daughters, Richard Earl Storts and Terry John Storts; 10 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Earl was born in Redwood Falls and spent the first 21 years of his life there. His father owned an Ice business in Redwood Falls. After graduating from high school he worked for his father until he enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1942. World War II called and he enlisted in the Naval Air Corp and was commissioned a pilot in 1944. He married Bertha Richard after receiving his wings in January of 1945. He flew off baby flat tops "Air Craft Carriers" providing convoy air coverage from German submarines. He remained in the Naval Reserve as a pilot, retiring after 20 years service. After the war, Earl worked in the grocery business in several capacities such as managing the Super-Valu in Benson, MN. He spent the majority of his working career as a Sales Representative for International Multi foods in the Robin Hood flour division. Earl was a good father, a wonderful husband and a valued friend. He loved the out of doors. He loved to fish, hunt, relax and enjoy the wonders of nature. He loved to play cards, garden and mix with people. He was never afraid of a hard days work nor did he lack balance in his life to appreciate the fruits of his efforts. He enjoyed the opportunity in his retirement to stay active and enjoy what life held. He and his bride this year celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary. For the last 14 years Earl and Bertha spent the winter months in Florida and summer in Minnesota. Burial services will be held at Ft. Snelling.
