Graveside services were this afternoon (Monday) at the Redwood Falls Cemetery for former Redwood Falls resident Helyn Arnett, 80, of Torrington, Wyo., who died Wednesday, May 5, 1993 at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff, Neb.
Visitation was Monday morning and afternoon at the Nelson Funeral Home in Redwood Falls.
Helyn Arnett was born Oct. 1, 1912 in Hawarden, Iowa, to John and Effie Storts. She moved to Redwood Falls with her parents, graduating from school there in 1931. She married Clifford Arnett Aug. 26, 1934 at Redwood Falls, and his position with Montgomery Ward stores took them to various locations throughout South Dakota, Minnesota and Wisconsin. In the 1940s, they moved to Nebraska and spent several years at Fremont, Grand Island and Omaha. They lived briefly in Iowa City, Iowa before purchasing the Coast to Coast Store in Torrington in 1956. They retired in 1973. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, where she had been financial chairperson for five years. She had been president of the Torrigton Women's Club for five years, and co-chairperson of the State Council of Wyoming Women's Club. She was the current treasurer and board member for Golden Manor.
She is survived by husband, Cliff of Torrington; daughter and son-in-law Nancy and Robert Schaneman of Cheyenne, Wyo.; son and daughter-in-law John T. and Alice Kay Arnett of Laramie, Wyo.; sisters, Evelyn Rouse of Inverness, Fla., and Bernice Duncan of Ortonville; brothers, Earl Storts of Minneapolis, and Charles Storts of Madison, Wis.; four grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by son, David Lee.
