Gladys "Granny" Hogan Ashwell, 84, of Huddleston, passed away Friday, July 26, 2013, at her residence after a lenghty illness. She was born on Saturday, April 30, 1929, in Fayette Co., WV, a daughter of the late Herman Walker Hogan and Ozelma Cundiff Hogan. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Marshall Page Ashwell; two brothers, Sonny Hogan and Claude Edward Hogan; and a sister, Doris H. Stevens. She was a floral designer with Glolyn Flowers for many years. Surviving are her sons, Marshall Page Ashwell Jr. of Lookout Mountain, TN, and Craig Ashwell and wife, Diane, of Huddleston; a grandson, Gregory Ashwell of Huddleston; a granddaughter, Desiree Ashwell of Charlotte, NC; great-grandson, Evan Ashwell of Huddleston; and a sister, Lois H. Ringley and husband, Bob, of Bedford. The family would like to express their appreciation for the wonderful care and help provided by Lynn and the entire Medihome Hospice team as well as Dr. Brian Buchanan and staff. Special thanks to long time family friend and caregiver, Eleanor Martin for all of her help and support as well. Funeral services will be held at the graveside at Leftwich Cemetery on Monday, July 29, 2013, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Steve Turner officiating.
