JC Mahanay, 92, died Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2007, in Burleson.
Funeral: 10 a.m. Friday at Alvarado Church of Christ. Interment: Glenwood Cemetery, Alvarado. Visitation with the family: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Clayton Kay-Vaughan Funeral Home in Alvarado.
Memorials: May be made to the Alvarado Church of Christ or a charity of choice.
JC was born Aug. 28, 1915, in Alvarado, the eldest of seven children of Lee and Naomi Prestridge Mahanay. JC was a veteran of the United States Army Air Corps, serving as a staff sergeant. He was married for 46 years to Ruth Warfield Mahanay. She preceded him in death Jan. 3, 1990. He was also married for 15 years to Lucille Strickland Mahanay, who preceded him in death April 10, 2007. He was also preceded in death by his son, Lynn Mahanay; and two brothers, Emmett Lee Mahanay and Virgil Mahanay.
Survivors: His sons, James Mahanay of Arlington, Randal Mahanay of Arlington and Don Mahanay and wife, Christy, of Azle; grandson, Jason Mahanay of North Richland Hills; granddaughter, Meghan Mahanay of St. George's, Grenada, West Indies; brothers, Bill Mahanay and wife, Pat, of Burleson, Calvin Mahanay of Abilene and Eddie Vernon and wife, Carol, of Abilene; sister, Willie Paul Hess of North Richland Hills; aunt, Alline Boulware of Cleburne; stepdaughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Harry Barton of Alvarado, Jean and Dave Drennan of Crowley and Sheri and Rick Barton of Plano.
