Walter D. Coffee's Body Expected Here
Body of Walter D. Coffee, 65, who was killed Wednesday in an automobile mishap in Hayward, Cal. is expected to arrive here Sunday, and funeral arrangements will be made from Everly Funeral Home.
Mr. Coffee, who had lived here for many years before moving to California about a year ago, is survived by the wife, two sons, Walter Douglass [sic] Coffee, Jr., Bobby Lee Coffee; five sisters, Mrs. Lula Hardy of Big Spring, Mrs. W. E. Mercer, Lolis Coffee, Mrs. Margaret Neel, all of Fort Worth. Mrs. Grady Calloway of Edinburg; two brothers, Lib Coffee of Fort Worth, and Jerry Coffee of Fort Worth.

Services Monday for Mishap Victim
Funeral service for Walter D. Coffee, former resident who was killed in an automobile accident Wednesday at Hayward, Calif., will be held at 3 p.m. Monday at the Everley chapel.
The body is expected to arrive here today.
The Rev. Gage Lloyd, pastor of the First Presbyterian church, will officiate at the rites. burial will be in the Big Spring cemetery, with the Masonic lodge in charge of grave side ceremonies.
Mr. Coffee lived in Howard county for a number of years before moving to California in September of 1946.

LOYALTY RANGER
Walter Douglas Coffee was born July 25, 1882 in Kyle, Hays County, Texas, to Lilburn Warren Coffee and Margaret Goode. He stood 5ft 11in tall, had blue eyes, ruddy complexion and brown hair. He was married to Sarah Ruth Moore on September 9, 1926, in Big Springs, Texas. They had two sons, Robert Lee and Walter Douglas, Jr. Walter was a ranchman in Big Springs, Howard County, Texas. In 1910, he was a partner in a grain shed in Big Springs. He enlisted in the Texas Rangers as a LOYALTY RANGER on June 5, 1918 thru February, 1919. Loyalty Rangers worked undercover as a State Secret Service under the Hobby Loyalty Act of 1918. No one knew the work they were doing. Walter Douglas Coffee reportedly died October 29, 1947, in Alameda, California and is buried in Mount Olive Cemetery, Big Springs, Texas.
