Helen Mae Biltoft, daughter of John Thomas and Mabel (Jenkins) Bise, was born March 22, 1919, on a farm near Chester, Nebraska, in Republic County, Kansas. She passed away Thursday, July 6, 2000, at the Good Samaritan Center in Beatrice, Nebraska, at the age of 81 years, 3 months and 14 days.
She attended Washington rural school. Helen moved with her family to rural Nora, Nebraska on February 3, 1928, when she was nine years old. She attended Sunny View School.
December 18, 1939, Helen married Homer Biltoft at Geneva, Nebraska. Walter Fisher and her sister, Ina (Bise) Fisher, were witnesses. To this union were born three sons, John Darrell on February 27, 1941, Dennis Lorren on September 16, 1943, and Ray on May 30, 1945, and one daughter, Donna on August 23, 1955.
She lived on the farm until December 1998 when she moved to Fairbury. In March of this year Helen moved to the Good Samaritan Center in Beatrice.
She was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Ruskin and the Ladies Aid.
Helen loved cats of all shapes, sizes and colors. She was an avid animal lover and enjoyed sewing and embroidering. She helped with and made decorations for many church activities such as graduations, parades, etc.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Homer, on October 25, 1999; three brothers, Lawrence "Buss", Kenneth and Rex; one sister, Ina Fisher; and one granddaughter, Barbara Biltoft.
Survivors include three sons, Darrell and his wife Linda of Nora, Nebraska, Dennis of Birmingham, Alabama, and Ray and his wife Cheri of Hardy, Nebraska; one daughter, Donna Sailors and her husband Jeff of Fairbury, Nebraska; one sister-in-law, Verna Kirchhoff of Superior, Nebraska; nine grandchildren, three step grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 11, 2000, at Megrue-Price Funeral Home Chapel in Superior, Nebraska, with Pastor Robert Mrosko officiating. Music was "The Old Rugged Cross" and "One Day At A Time", with Hartley Petersen as soloist, and congregational singing of "Heaven Is My Home". Carlita Price was organist. Interment was in Spring Creek Cemetery, Ruskin, Nebraska.
Pallbearers were Brad Biltoft, Jerry Smock, Tarrell Hurst, Denny Lanham, John Melton and Jeff Scholl. Megrue-Price Funeral Home of Superior was in charge of the arrangements.
