Pearl D. V. (Speelman) Gilbert, 75, went to heaven to be with her beloved husband Robert Gilbert, and to enter into the loving arms of Jesus and His angels on Saturday, Sept. 6, 2008.
She was born February 23, 1933, in Gettysburg. Pearl was the daughter of the late Belford and Viola Bumgartner Speelman.
Pearl attended Hunterstown Church of God. She enjoyed serving the Lord, her flowers, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was a faithful and caring mother.
She is survived by four sons, Harold Speelman and his wife Phyllis, of Orrtana; Thomas Gilbert and his wife Nancy, of Arendtsville; Jeffrey Gilbert and his wife Tanya, of Franklintown; Steven Gilbert, of Biglerville; three daughters, Cynthia Gilbert, of Hanover; Pamela Pritt and her husband William, of Biglerville; Betsy Gilbert, at home; three brothers, Mark (Gettysburg), Joseph (Abbottstown), and Dwight (Littlestown) Speelman; one sister, Mary Moore, of New Oxford; 16 grandchildren, Judy, Wanda, Kelly, Tara, Jed, Josh, Joel, Jared, Shannon, Jessica, Jerica, Shyann, Mercedes, William, Curtis, and Brett; 24 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Robert (Rob) Gilbert, and a grandson, Harold Speelman Jr.; two sisters, Jean Dixon and Marion (Winnie) Althoff; and three brothers, Stanley, Preston, and John Speelman.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2008, at the Hunterstown Church of God, 895 Coleman Road, Gettysburg, with Pastor Patrick Clady officiating. Burial will be in the Benders Church Cemetery.
