He was born November 20, 1909, the son of Stephen L. and Hily Ann Bratton Adams, in Calhoun County, Mississippi. He lived in Grand Saline until 1943 but lived most of his life in Harlingen. He was a member of Van Church of Christ and had worked as a warehouse manager for Pittsburg Plate Glass in Harlington.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Christine Presswood Adams, on July 24, 1981; and five brothers, Tom Adams, Howard Adams, Burl Adams, Opal Adams and Russell Adams.
He is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Billie and Harry T Pitts of San Antonio, Shirley and Jim Southwell of McAllen and Geneva and Don Staudt of Corpus Christi; two sisters, Rennie Grammer of Shreveport and Helen Painter of Tyler, 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
