Bronchitis Follows Hurt
Mrs. Thomas Rathbone, of Hood River, Dies in Washington D.C.

Hood River, Or., Sept. 12 - (Special) - Mrs. Thomas Rathbone, daughter of Rev. Troy Shelley, pioneer Odell minister, died at Washington, D.C., where she was engaged in war work, of bronchitis and of injuries sustained a month ago, when run down by a brewer's truck. Former news to the family was that her injuries were not serious.
Mrs. Rathbone's husband is with the American Army in France. A. B. Shelley, a brother, has left here to bring the body home.

Mrs. Rathbone's Funeral Today
Mrs. Thomas Rathbone, daughter of Rev. Troy Shelley, died last week at Washington, D. C., where she was engaged in war work, from bronchial pneumonia and injuries sustained a month ago when she was run down by a motor truck. Former news to the family was that the injuries were not serious.
Mrs. Rathbone's husband is with the American army in France. A. B. Shelley, a brother, left here to bring the body home.
The body arrived here last night. The funeral will be held at the old home today, interment following at the family burying ground on the old pioneer place. S. E. Bartmess will direct the funeral.

"Here lie the remains of Troy Shelley and Annie Lewis Shelley who settled in the Odell area 1882." "The remains of the above were exhumed from the family burial plot on Scott Rd near Odell,Oregon. A family tree is available at Hood River Historical Society. Many thanks to Chuck and Mary Ellen Pickering who donated the burial plot."
Originally buried in the Shelley Family Cemetery and moved to Pine Grove Cemetery.
