Daughter of William and Margaret Nesen Entler. Wife of Henry Cookus.

Died: Departed this life in Romney, July 14 1857, Mrs Catherine Cookus,
aged about sixty two years. Her affliction was of a very painful and
protracted nature; which she endured with wonderful patience and
resignation. But she possessed that which passeth all human knowledge;
the religion of Jesus Christ. Throughout her entire illness she evinced
to all who called upon her, and asked for a reason of the hope that was
within, incontestable evidence that she found.
"That Jesus can make a dying bed,
Feel soft as downy pillow are"
In the early life she became the subject of converting grace, and
attached herself to the Methodist E. Church; of which she remained a
faithful member, until God summoned her from his Vineyard here to His
glorious rest above. With interrogated as to her spiritual preparation,
she unhesitatingly replied that all things were now ready, and she was
but waiting for her Heavenly Master to accomplish His Holy will
concerning her in the flesh. She died as all good Christians die; in
peace with God and man.
Mrs. Cookus has left a large circle of relations to mourn her loss. May
God sanctify the afflictions of the bereaved ones to their eternal good.
May we who have known her through life and in death, follow her as she
followed Jesus. And may our end be like her's - the end of the righteous
and eternal life beyond this vale of tears.
