Betty L. Schnick, 86, of Delavan, died Tuesday, April 22, 2008, in her home of natural causes. She was born September 11, 1921, in Junction City, Wisconsin, a daughter of Elmer and Emma (Brookins) Grover. She graduated from P.J. Jacobs High School in Stevens Point, WI, and attended Central State Teacher's College, also in Stevens Point, on Sept. 19, 1942. She married Raymond G. Schnick in Dearborn, MI; he died in 1990. Prior to retirement she had been employed in the composition departments of both the Shopper/Advertiser and later The Delavan Enterprise, and was a columnist from 1993 until 2001 for The Beacon. She is survived by one daughter, Karen Williams [April 30, 1945 - September 9, 2010] of Janesville; one son, Randy Schnick of Delavan; three granddaughters: Danielle LaReau of Janesville, Emilie Schnick of Nashville, TN, and Natalie Schnick of Delavan; one grandson, Andrew Williams of Janesville; one brother, Ralph Grover of Altoona; one great-granddaughter, Amelia Ray; and a dear friend, Sue Hirte of Delavan. She was preceded in death by her husband; one daughter, Darlene Kavanaugh; and her sister, Ruth. Funeral services April 27, 2008, at the BETZER FUNERAL HOME, Delavan, with Chaplain Sue Benzen Officiating. Burial at Roselawn Cemetery.
