C. David Bailey-Gates, 66, died on Wednesday (August 20), in West Hartford, after a brief illness.
Born in Hartford, he was the son of the late Dr. Charles and Mary Bailey-Gates. David was a graduate of St. Thomas the Apostle School, and the Cranwell Preparatory School. He attended Boston College and graduated from Loyola Univ. in New Orleans in 1963. He was a real estate broker in West Hartford for many years.
David is survived by Ann Hunter, his forth grade sweetheart and beloved partner of 27 years; his daughter Laurie "Doodle" Bailey-Gates of Cotuit, MA; his sons and their wives, Shawn and Tracy of Harrisville, RI, Charles Kevin and Sally of Londonderry, NH, Keegan and Shannon of Mashpee, MA; his brothers and their wives, James and Arlene of Wakefield, RI, Paul and Lesley of Piedmont, CA, Christopher and Donna of Farmington, CT, Brian and Beth in Fairfax, CA; his grandchildren; Brian, Christopher, Michael K, Koen, Beau, Michael G, Sarah, James and Matthew; his brother-in-law William Everitt of Marston Mills, MA and his sister-in-law Suzanne M. Bailey-Gates of West Hartford. He was pre-deceased by his sister Mary Everitt and brother Peter. David's other loves were his Ham radio (under call sign W1CBG), the Boston Red Sox, the Patriots, Boston College football and his trusted and true poodle, Clancy.
Friends are invited to join David's family at the celebration of his Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, August 25 at 10 a.m. in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 875 Farmington Avenue, West Hartford.
Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, West Hartford.
