Mrs. Alice Jorgensen of Lake City was born Feb. 1, 1884, at Rockwell City and passed away Sunday night June 19, 1960 at the McVay hospital in Lake City after a brief illness at the age of 76 years. She had been in fairly good health and had attended a family gathering with her children and grandchildren near Lanesboro on Sunday and became seriously ill on the way home. She was taken to the hospital where she passed away soon after being admitted.
Mrs. Jorgensen, nee Alice Elizabeth Schuett was married Jan. 20, 1909 to Niels Jorgensen in Des Moines where they lived for two years and then farmed in Carroll and Calhoun counties until Mr. Jorgensen's death on Aug. 9, 1946. Since that time she has made her home in Lake City, To Mr. and Mrs. Jorgensen were born four children. They are Raymond Jorgensen near Lanesboro, Mrs Kenneth Sherer (Genevieve) of Glidden, Mrs. H. G. Barbar (Sylva) of Milwaukee, Ore., and Karl Jorgensen of Scranton.
She was a member of the Baptist church in Lake City. She is survived by her four children, six grandchildren and one great grandchild, one sister, Mrs Clair Waters of Lake City, two stepsisters, Mrs Maude Wright of Lake City, of Auburn, Miss Lois Calhoun and one stepbrother Floyd Calhoun and several nieces and nephews and many friends.
