Born Aug. 13, 1927, in Hagers-town, he was the son of the late Walter Scott Dayley and Abby Viola Dayley.
He was employed as a shipping clerk at Pangborn Industries in Hagerstown, retiring in 1989 after 38 years of service.
He was a member of Church of the Brethren in Welsh Run, Pa., where he served as the caretaker for the church and cemetery.
He served in the U.S. Army Air Force.
He is survived by his wife, Sarah E. Keefer Dayley, whom he married Jan. 3, 1951; one daughter, Beverly Sue Dayley of Tucson, Ariz.; three sons, David A. Dayley and Roy S. Dayley, both of Greencastle, Pa., and Michael J. Dayley of Mercersburg, Pa.; two sisters, Jane Shuman of Lemasters, Pa., and Annabelle Thorum of Spring City, Pa.; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Martha Harrison and Mary Poe, and three brothers, Perry Dayley, Carl Dayley and John Dayley.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Henry Hunsberger will officiate.
There will be no viewing.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the Good Shepherd, 2700 Luther Drive, Chambersburg, PA 17201.
Arrangements are by Miller-Bowersox Funeral Home.
