The Holton Recorder, December 18, 1919:
The younger group of Holton’s best society lost a valuable member in the death of Miss Edythe Armstrong, which occurred last Thursday. She had been suffering from malarial chills and fever for two or three months … On Thanksgiving day she took to her bed, and grew steadily worse… Edythe L. Armstrong was born in Holton, on the 20th day of December, 1899. She was educated in the local public and high schools. She completed the teacher’s course in music in Campbell college…. united with the First Presbyterian church of this city when she was eleven years of age …. When Edythe was only five months of age her father died, leaving her in the care of her mother, and of her older sister, Mrs. Ross Francis …. She is survived by her mother, three brothers: Arthur of Texas City; Oliver, of Springfield, Mo.; and Clarence of Dalhart, Texas; two sisters; Mrs. Ross Francis of Holton; and Miss Eva Armstrong of Columbus, Ohio; and two half-brothers, Fred and Frank Armstrong of Atchison, Kansas.
Among the relatives who came to Holton for the funeral of Miss Edythe Armstrong Sunday, were …Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Armstrong and baby … Dr. Anna Schooley and Dr. C. O. Davis, of Kansas City, Mo.
