John Smith came to this country from Sweden around 1889.His wife followed in a year. He came to Ellis Island as Elof Johansson, his name was changed to John Johnson at Ellis Island. No one knows when or why it was then changed to Smith. He had five children and was married to Christina Smith.
His children were
Alfred Smith
Gertrude (Smith) Alburg
Anna (Smith) Anderson
Marie Smith
Carl Smith
John also made violin's. One of which is on display at the museum in Brockway
