Major Palmer of the 66th regiment arrived home Saturday looking quite feeble from recent illness. Sergeant Ross of the same regiment arrived last week with a hearty and soldierly appearance. That genial Irishman Mike Durkin, who can sing a cheering son on any occasion, of the 66th is also in town.
Urbana - Dec 12, 1888
Michael Durkin has been granted a re-issue and re-rating of pension at the rate of $14 per month, amounting to over $1200 back pay. Through the agency of Captain Cain.
Urbana -March 6, 1889
A social dance was given at the residence of Michael Durkin last Monday night. The company of ladies and gentlemen present had a very pleasant time and only regretted that the hours passed away too quickly
Urbana - March 29, 1904
Michael Durkin, the well known expressman, died at his home in Louden St Tuesday afternoon at a quarter of two. His death was caused by erysipelas which resulted from a fall he sustained some time ago. He was about 73 years of age and came to this country from Ireland 45 years ago. He was a veteran of the Civil War having served with the 66th OVI.
Urbana - April 1, 1904
The funeral of the late Michael Durkin was held from St Marys church Thursday morning at 10:00. The fact that this is Holy Week and one mass had been said that the church earlier in the morning prevented high mass being sung for the deceased because the rules of the church do not allow one priest to say mass more than once in the morning.
