David Jones was born on the 4th of July 1844 in Coshocton County, Ohio to Israel Jones and Jane Cox Jones. He had a very large family, with three older brothers, two older sisters, two younger brothers and two younger sisters. He served in the Civil War as part of the 51st Ohio Voluntary Infantry, Company H starting in September 1861. He married Annie Albert on the 27th of August 1865, at the age of 21. They were marrried for almost 15 years. They had seven children, John, Edward, Mary, Jane, Frank, Sharlotte and William. He died prematurely on the 22nd of February 1881, at the age of 36.
