Ivan E. Arentz, 87, formerly of 870 Pine Grove Road, died Sunday morning, Oct. 4, 1998, at Beverly Health Care in Gettysburg. He was the husband of the late Beatrice (Sterner) Arentz, his wife of 68 years.

Born Nov. 22, 1910, in Adams county, he was the son of the late John and Malinda (Dayhoff) Arentz.

He was a lifelong farmer and was Union Township Supervisor for 25 years. He was a life member of Christ United Church of Christ, Alpha Fire Co., the Littlestown Fish & Game and past director of Protective Mutual Insurance, all in Littlestown.

Surviving also are six daughters, Ethel L. Abbott of Knoxville, Tenn., Mary Jane Small of Westminster, Md., Beatrice D. Wallen, of LaFollette, Tenn., Freda A. Bortner and Deborah A. Grove, both of Littlestown and Susan J. Gregg of Hanover; six sons, Clair E. Arentz, Vernon "Butch" Arentz, Ivan E. Arentz Jr. and Dale A. Arentz , all of Littlestown, Leroy W. Arentz of Hanover and Donald B. Arentz of Gettysburg; 58 grandchildren; 117 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren and three sisters, Bernadine Nelson of Bismarck, N.D., Norma Yost of Hanover and Patsy Erdley of Selingsgrove.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Erma Topper.

Interment in Christ Church cemetery, Littlestown.
