Harry O. Wolf

Mass of Christian Burial will be read at 10 a.m. Saturday in Divine Redeemer Roman Catholic Church for Harry O. Wolf.

The celebrant will be the Rev. Omer Foxhover. Entombment will be in Evergreen Mausoleum with Nolan Funeral Home handling arrangements.

Mr. Wolf, 511 S. Hancock Ave., died Wednesday in a local hospital. He owned and operated Wolf Sign and Decorating Co.

He was born Aug. 21, 1904, in St Charles, Mo., and moved here in 1929.

He was a member of Divine Redeemer Church, the Numismatic Society and was a life member of Painters Local 171.

He is survived by two daughters and two sons, Betty Bissonnette, Marie Doll, and Richard Wolf, all of Colorado Springs, and Henry Wolf of Glenwood Springs; two brothers and two sisters, Horace and Lester Wolf, Viola Teabeau and Geraldine Kruse, all of Missouri; 15 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Wolf's wife Ursula died in 1974.

Friends may contribute to the Penrose Coronary Care Unit.

Some notes from our Papa's diary, sent to me by my cousin, who has the diary:.

Left Colorado Springs, CO on train to Vallyo [sic] Ca March 27 - 1944 - took 3 days.
Boarded USS John B. Floyd on April 30 - 1944 - left port - went under Golden Gate bridge - saw Treasure Island and Alacrity [sic] prison -
Papa and Uncle Hank) they had to get 4 shots - Papa didn't like that - he also got little sea sick - The guys nick named him Colorado -
10 days at sea - arrived Pearl Harbor @ 11:15 - went to Honolulu - working in the sign shop.
July 26 saw President Roosevelt who came over - Papa thought that was pretty neat - He worked on the Prince George ship, the Hickok
Destroyer, USS New Jersey and the Northern Lights ship.
Uncle Hank left for Colorado Springs early to finish High School Nov 19 - 1944 - Papa thought he was going to be there about 156 days - which he wasn't - Christmas was real
sad for him and the guys - Got sailing orders March 24 - 1945 - his last entry was March 25 when he went to church.
I don't know why he didn't write on the train home - but that was his last entry.
