Tipton Conservative, Dec. 1997 - Funeral services for Ethel Lovell Yerington, 96, Tipton, will be held at 10:30 a.m. today, Wednesday, Nov. 26, 1997 at Fry Funeral Home in Tipton, with the Rev. Norman Anderson officiating. Sharon Stiff is the organist and pallbearers are Warren, Frankie, Roger, Bruce, David and Dennis Lovell. Burial will be in the Mt. Zion cemetery, rural Tipton. Mrs. Yerington died Nov. 23 at Crestview Care Center in West Branch, following an extended illness. The daughter of William and Rose Merrill Morgan, she was born March 1, 1901 in Cedar county. She attended rural Cedar county Schools. She married George Wilson Lovell on Sept. 20, 1920 in Iowa City. He died in 1951. She married Archie Yerington on June 1, 1961 in Tipton. He died in 1970. Mrs. Yerington was a homemaker and telephone operator in Rochester for 20 years. She was a member of the Methodist faith. Mrs. Yerington is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, William J. and Monnie Lovell, Rochester; 2 stepsons, Donald Yerington, Memphis, Mo.; and Charles (Chuck) Yerington, Davenport; a stepdaughter, Janet Hamiel, Tipton; grandchildren, Judy Becker, Wilton, Warren and Roger Lovell, Muscatine; Bruce Lovell, Tipton; Dennis Lovell, West Branch; Jeanette Sletten, Caracus, Venezuela; Joanne Williams and Frankie Lovell, Rochester; David Lovell, Atalissa; Jayne Mundell, West Branch; and Julyne Kenney, Cortland, Illinois; 24 great-grandchildren; 17 great-great-grandchildren; 23 step-grandchildren; 41 step-great grandchildren; and 5 step-great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husbands; 2 sons, Frank and Kenneth Lovell; a daughter-in-law, Mamie Lovell; 4 sisters, Genevieve Lendt, Gladys Morgan, Mildred Baker and Millie Ackley; a brother, Fay Morgan; 2 great-grandchildren, Kevin and Jeri Lovell; 2 stepdaughters, Helen Lovell Emerson and Mildred Witmer; 3 stepsons, Russel (Bud) Lovell; and Howard and Harry Yerington; a great-great-grandchild, Mason Abels; and 2 step-grandchildren, Gerrie Day and Mary Jane Lovell. A family memorial has been established.
