Rita was the eighth of nine children of John Henry Fitzgerald and Emma Mary Moninghoff Fitzgerald. She was raised as the baby because her younger brother died soon after birth.

She lost her mother when she was only two years old. No doubt that sad event influenced her immensely.

Rita married William R. Tinsman and they had four children.

She resided in Milford all of her life. She was a communicant of St. Edward the Confessor Roman Catholic Church in Milford. She worked for many years as the cafeteria manager at Delaware Valley Regional High School.

Rita had throat cancer.

Rita's funeral took place at St. Edward the Confessor Roman Catholic Church in Milford an hour and a half before my wedding there on Apr. 1, 1989.

Obituary from the Easton Express, Mar. 30, 1989, p. B-7:
