Solomon Cogan lived the major portion of his life in Ohio in Perry, Carroll County through his 20s; Fairfield and Goshen, Tuscarawas County in his 30s and 40s; and Portage, Ravenna County in his 70s.

He and his wife Mary Ann Swinehart Cogan were married October 8, 1863 in Ohio. He and his wife celebrated their 50th wedding anniversay in 1913 in Ohio.

It was some time after 1920 that Solomon moved to California, died, and was interred at Inglewood Park Cemetery on March 12, 1930 at age 94 years, 1 month, and 3 days.

Great-grandson William Dean "Bill" and Betsy Alice Cogan are responsible for seeing that Solomon received his headstone at Inglewood Park Cemetery.
