She was born July 22, 1920, in Guadalupe County, Texas.
Ruby was preceded in death by her husband, Elton Fritz Strey; parents, Fritz and Helena (Schievelbein) Hartmann; daughter-in-law Mary Strey; siblings Rose Imken and husband Albert, Alvin Hartmann and wife Ellen, Mabel Krueger, Alton Hartmann, Marjorie Barth and husband Herbert, and an infant brother.
She is survived by her children, Sandra Kay Mattke and husband Paul, Buddy Strey, Sidney Strey and wife Dore, and Randy Strey; grandchildren Kane Mattke, Alisa Hybner and husband Mark, Shawn Strey, Audrey Andrews and husband Jeff, Karin Carpenter and husband Richy, Nyles Strey, and Joshua and Stephen Strey; great-grandchildren Michael and Christopher Mattke, Dagen, Trevor, Blue, and Cole Hybner, Brandon, Sara, Kollin, and Kelsey Strey, Jared, Kaley, and Levi Andrews, and Corley and Koy Carpenter; brothers Gilbert Hartmann and wife Dorothy and Gerald Hartmann and wife Marilyn; sisters-in-law Viola Voigt and Letha Hartmann; and brother-in-law Alfred Strey Jr. and wife Betty.
